New feature design: Search Profile

 

Save search or "Search Profile" is a feature implemented in 2022 aiming to enhance user experience while providing valuable data insights for our ongoing optimization efforts.

Initially planned as part of the website's property search but after careful investigating on the infrastructure architecture and business scope with Product Managers and Engineer Managers we decided to create a component that could be shared with the Customer Portal keeping a consistent user experience and low maintenance costs.

Why?

  1. Personalized Experience:

    • With the save search feature, users can tailor their marketplace experience by saving specific search criteria. This ensures that they receive relevant and personalized results every time they revisit the platform.
  2. Time Efficiency:

    • Users often search for similar items or services repeatedly. The Search Profile feature eliminates the need to input search parameters each time, saving users time and effort. This convenience is crucial for retaining user engagement.
  3. Notification Alerts:

    • Users can opt to receive notifications when new listings match their saved searches. This proactive approach ensures users are promptly informed about relevant additions to the marketplace, increasing the chances of successful transactions.
  4. Increased User Engagement:

    • By providing a more tailored and efficient search experience, we anticipate an increase in user engagement. Users who find the platform easier to navigate and more attuned to their needs are likely to spend more time exploring and using our services

Achievements

During the first year we registered an average of 1000 new search profiles per months. In addition to this, usually customers have multiple " search profiles"  saved with a subsequent increase of engagement. Applications for properties made with through McMakler website or Customer Portal were 4 times higher than other publishing channels. 
Ultimately this feature contributed with a 2% of total revenues.
